Re: ASHFIELD ARTIST IN RESIDENCE (AIR)

Ashfield Council is calling for expressions of interest from regional, rural and international artists for the Ashfield Artist in Residence program.  The residency period for this application round is between

5 February 2009 and 30 June 2009.  The closing date is 12 December 2008.

There is a strong emphasis on community development in this residency, and artists are asked to submit an application that will reflect this.

Areas that have been identified as priorities by the AIR advisory group are:

• The establishment of a regular event that will offer community opportunity to perform acoustic music and/or poetry reading or story telling,
• The establishment of a community choir,
• The development of a collection of community stories written by community members,
• A program offering learning and teaching of indigenous art, dance and music.

The above are guidelines only and applications offering other programs will also be considered.

Please encourage people to apply as the experience for both the artist and the Ashfield community is invaluable in the development of arts practice and interest.
