Draft Framework for NT Screen Industry Released |
Draft Framework for NT Screen Industry ReleasedA draft strategic framework for the future of the Northern Territory Film Office (NTFO) has now been developed and is open for public comment until Thursday 9 April 2009. NTFO Director Penelope McDonald said outcomes from this framework will clarify the vision of the Northern Territory screen industry for the next five years, and the potential leadership role of the NTFO within this larger context. “We have a vibrant and successful screen industry in the Territory, as seen recently through productions like Double Trouble, Australia, Balibo, Samson & Delilah, In A League of Their Own and the Yarning Up series” Ms McDonald said. “We’ve seen that our local economy can benefit greatly through the screen industry, and increasing local activity is particularly important in the current economic climate. “The proposed framework is part of the Northern Territory Screen Industry Visioning Project which is moving towards the development of a five year plan that works towards sustainability with long-term creative and commercial success. “The draft framework is the culmination of a discussion paper, developed in November 2008 by consultant Doug Macnamara and the Visioning Project’s Steering Committee based on the information provided by screen industry professionals and associated industries and individuals, as well as contributions from the public made earlier this year.” Ms McDonald said forums are being held this week in both Darwin and Alice Springs to present the draft framework and invites people interested in contributing to the process to attend.
